I envision a lot of what life was like hundreds of years ago. It isn’t a time any of us can go back to, but is one that we can recreate and visit for a short time. I’m glad I’m not the only dreamer out there who is a lover of the old world, who […]
I was so thrilled to start off the spring season being a part of Amanda and Aaron’s wedding day at Kylan Barn in Delmar! One thing I ask when working with my couples is what they are most excited for on their wedding day, and if it’s simply marrying your love, I know we are […]
Do you ever meet someone and feel like you could have known each other for years? That’s basically how it felt meeting up with Katy and Ray for their downtown St. Michaels engagement session over on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I was so happy to finally get together with these two after rescheduling their […]
This shoot was just a thought in my mind last November, trying to get ahead for the slow season to come in the winter months. I had thought it would be fun to do a wintry shoot in the snow with a friend and her horse and transform that into an ethereal styled shoot with […]
I was thrilled when Sophie reached out to me to photograph her wedding this year. I mean, who doesn’t hope to work with people they know and love?! Sophie and Nate got married on their 7th anniversary, right on the day. Initially, they had a wedding planned for a larger party on the Eastern Shore, […]
Do you have someone in your life who you can recall memories with from when you were five years old? A person who has been there through it all, from traveling with you across the country as you transition from east to west coaster to being right there on the phone when things feel like a disaster?
This is Chelsea and she is my person. She has done all of the above and throughout our whole lives PUT UP WITH ME, which is really all I could ask for in a friend. I’m going to be honest, I don’t have a huge circle of friends, but I find the best ones are the ones who have remained close, from building forts in the woods at 10, graduating high school, parting ways to go to college, following their own paths and at the same time still having time for you in their busy lives.
We did this shoot in a field that is right outside the neighborhood we both grew up in (one of us still lives there thanks for leaving me). There were a ton of these gorgeous, little blue flowers growing through the wheat and in the sunset hours everything just looks golden. Golden in the sense of color and the sense of serenity standing in between it all. I’m not going to glorify this too much, because in the end we were both sweating in the humidity and left with really itchy legs, but how nice is it to just be in a tiny place where all the worries melt away, even if it is just for a few minutes? You can’t be anything less than content when surrounded by nature (at least in my book).
To wrap up this post, I want to say how grateful I am for my friends, the ones who I’ve known since I was super young to the ones I have just made this year. It is so important to have those people in your life and I’m more than lucky to know you all! xo
